He created this custom look for Elphaba, inspired by the movement and texture of mushrooms growing out of a mossy tree and infused with the drama of asymmetrical plumage. Elphaba’s jaw-dropping ensemble evokes the dynamic shapes found within nature while staying true to the mystery surrounding the Wicked Witch of the West. A high-collar bolero, angular matte-black dimensional bodice, and voluminous structured organza skirt shield her like a couture cape, accented by her stylized hat and heels. The deep black fabric evolves into a gentle pink, just like Elphaba’s strong exterior softens after a chance encounter turns into a lasting friendship.
